I developed a model to improve learning outcomes from lecture-based videos.  Grounded in research in cognitive psychology (Information Processing Model, Working Memory model, Dual-channel model, Schema theory, Cognitive Load Theory, Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning, etc.), The 3P Model calls for modifying videos with 3 treatments (Prime, Portion, Probe), to provide learners with an organizational framework of the lesson, while helping them manage cognitive resources during the lesson.  Two separate studies (in 2014 and 2015) confirmed the model's effectiveness, especially in low performing learners.  In both studies, learners on average saw an improvement of a full letter grade in test outcomes.
